Brubaker to Host Prostate Cancer Awareness Event Tuesday
HARRISBURG – Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) will host a Prostate Cancer Awareness
event at the Capitol Building in Harrisburg at noon on Tuesday.
The event will help raise awareness about the disease and encourage men to
recognize the indicators and risks of prostate cancer, the leading type of
cancer in Pennsylvania men. One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate
cancer in his lifetime.
"Health care professionals agree that early diagnosis is the key to
successful treatment for prostate cancer," said Brubaker, who underwent
successful surgery for the disease in 2008. "I hope that this event will help
more men identify the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer to prevent this
disease from claiming more lives."
Brubaker will host the event in the East Wing Rotunda in
conjunction with Sen. Andy Dinniman (D-19), who is also a prostate cancer
survivor. Brubaker and Dinniman introduced a resolution recognizing September as
Prostate Cancer Awareness Month today.
