Brubaker, Boyd to Host Akron Blood Drive May 19
HARRISBURG – Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) and Rep. Scott Boyd (R-43) will host a
blood drive with the American Red Cross in Akron on May 19.
The blood drive will be held from 1-6 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church at 435
Main Street.
"Donating blood is extremely important to help accident victims or
individuals who suffer from life-threatening medical conditions," Brubaker said.
"I would strongly encourage local residents to consider participating in this
blood drive to help those in need."
"Giving blood takes less than an hour and is virtually painless to do," Boyd
said. "It takes so little effort and time to give a gift that could truly end up
saving someone's life. I hope we have a huge turnout at this event."
According to the Red Cross, while nearly one in three individuals will need
donated blood in their lifetime, just five percent of the U.S. population
chooses to donate. A single blood donation can help save up to three lives.
Potential donors who would like more information about the blood drive may
contact Jennifer Frees at Brubaker's Lititz district office by calling (717)
627-0036 or Josiah Shelly in Boyd's office by calling (717) 464-5285.
