For Immediate Release Brubaker Announces Winners of Fall Student Challenge Essay ContestHARRISBURG - Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) today announced the winners of the Fall 2009 Student Challenge essay contest. The Fall 2009 Student Challenge invited students to submit an essay of 500 words or less describing a favorite historical location in Pennsylvania and explaining why the location is important to the student. The winners will receive an award certificate and a visit to the State Capitol in Harrisburg with a guest for lunch and a tour of the Capitol. "Pennsylvania has a rich heritage, and we received a number of outstanding essays detailing the significance of our historic sites," Brubaker said. "I would like to congratulate our winners and thank all of the young people in the district who put in the time and effort to take part in the program." The winners are: Jaylen Spangler, Matthew Hamers and Erin Wee. The Student Challenge program is open to all K-12 students in the 36th Senatorial District, including the school districts of Cocalico, Columbia, Conestoga Valley, Donegal, Eastern Lancaster County, Ephrata, Hempfield, Manheim Central, Octorara, Pequea Valley, Twin Valley and Warwick.
