Priority Patients Can Schedule H1N1 Vaccinations
HARRISBURG – District residents that have the greatest
risks from the H1N1 virus can schedule an appointment for a vaccination this
weekend, according to Senator Mike Brubaker (R-36).
The Department of Health announced this week that it will
conduct clinics statewide from November 20-22 to administer free vaccinations
for target groups who have not received the vaccine. Vaccinations will be
available only for individuals with significant risk factors for H1N1 infection.
Individuals must schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine.
In Lancaster County, vaccines will be administered at the
Lancaster Public Safety Center at 101 Champ Boulevard in Manheim. The clinic
will be open from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 2
p.m. on Saturday. Appointments for vaccinations can be made by calling
1-877-PA-HEALTH between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or scheduling online at
www.h1n1inpa.com.
The Department of Health is urging individuals only in the
following groups to attend the clinics: individuals between the ages of six
months and 24 years, household contacts and caregivers for children younger than
six months, pregnant women, healthcare providers and emergency medical services
personnel, and individuals under 65 years of age with underlying health
conditions, including asthma, diabetes, suppressed immune systems, heart
disease, kidney disease and neurocognitive and neuromuscular disorders.
In addition to scheduling an appointment, anyone seeking a
vaccination must complete an H1N1 vaccine consent form. Consent forms are
available online at
www.h1n1inpa.com.
