Brubaker Helps to Collect Scouting Stories for National Recognition
HARRISBURG - Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) is requesting
current and former members of the Boy Scouts of America to submit stories of
inspiration for consideration to be included in the National Hall of Leadership.
To honor the 100th anniversary of Scouting in
America, the Boy Scouts are encouraging current and former members to share
memories of leaders or volunteers who displayed admirable levels of leadership
that helped to inspire others.
A panel of judges will recognize twelve outstanding stories
of individuals who will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Dutch Council Hall of
Leadership, and those twelve inductees will then be submitted to the national
level where one outstanding leader from each council will be honored and
installed into the National Hall of Leadership.
"The Boy Scouts of America plays a vital role in preparing
young people to become leaders in every walk of life," said Brubaker, a former
Boy Scout who now serves as Chairman of the Boy Scouts of America Hall of
Leadership’s Pennsylvania Dutch Council. "I have a number of great memories of
my Scouting experience, and I am hopeful that these stories will demonstrate the
value and relevancy of Scouting to a wider audience."
Stories can be submitted at
http://scouting.org/100years/100years/nationalhallofleadership.aspx or by
contacting Brubaker’s district office at 301 East Main Street in Lititz. More
information is available by calling Brubaker’s office at (717) 627-0036.
