Brubaker Attends Pennsylvania Food Summit With US Secretaries of Agriculture,
Commerce
HARRISBURG - Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) attended a meeting
in Philadelphia today with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and U.S.
Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke to promote efforts to improve access to fresh
food in Pennsylvania communities.
The meeting included a tour of the new Parkside Shop Rite
supermarket and a town hall meeting with state and local government officials.
The meeting highlighted the importance of providing convenient access to food to
fight hunger and promote economic development in areas of need.
"Safe and easy access to food is one of the most important
ways to eliminate hunger in our communities, and I am pleased that this event
highlighted our statewide efforts to combat hunger and food insecurity," said
Brubaker, who chairs the legislative Hunger Caucus.
