Brubaker Marks Loyalty Day Holiday
HARRISBURG – Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) marked Loyalty Day
today by thanking area veterans who have helped to promote peace and freedom
across the globe.
"Loyalty Day is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the
things that make our state and nation exceptional – patriotism, courage,
compassion and freedom," Brubaker said. "Our veterans deserve a great deal of
credit for the sacrifices they have made to keep us safe and free, and I hope
that every American can show their appreciation by honoring our country today
and taking pride in the nation we have built together."
Loyalty Day originally began as "Americanization Day" in
1921 in response to an international holiday on May 1 honoring communism. The
holiday was officially recognized as Loyalty Day in 1949. Loyalty Day is
celebrated in America to promote patriotism and freedom. |
