Brubaker Launches Student Challenge Program
HARRISBURG - Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-36) today announced the
creation of the Student Challenge program to promote new learning opportunities
for students.
"The Student Challenge program will give students an
opportunity to express their thoughts on historical events and state laws, and I
believe this will encourage a greater sense of community and civic involvement
for our young people," Brubaker said.
The program will feature quarterly competitions and is open
to all K-12 students in the 36th Senatorial District, including the school
districts of Cocalico, Columbia, Conestoga Valley, Donegal, Eastern Lancaster
County, Ephrata, Hempfield, Manheim Central, Octorara, Pequea Valley, Twin
Valley and Warwick.
The first Student Challenge will feature an essay
competition for students to express their thoughts and feelings about Memorial
Day. Participants will be divided into three age groups, and three winners will
be chosen from each group. Winners will receive an award certificate and a visit
to the State Capitol in Harrisburg with a guest on June 17 for lunch and a tour
of the Capitol.
The deadline to submit an entry is May 15, and winners will
be announced on May 22.
Entries may be submitted online at
senatorbrubaker.com or
mailed to Brubaker’s district office at 301 E. Main Street, Lititz, PA 17543.
More information about the program is available on Brubaker’s website or by
