Brubaker Takes part in State Planning Board Meeting
State Senator Mike Brubaker (R-Lancaster) today took part in his first
meeting of the State Planning Board, which plays a crucial role in encouraging
community and economic development and effective land use planning. The meeting
was held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Rachel Carson Building in Harrisburg.
Brubaker was appointed to the board by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe
Scarnati and said he hopes to offer "a rural perspective" to board members. The
board is composed of 15 members representing diverse interests and regions of
the state. By law, the board includes four legislative members appointed by the
majority and minority parties in each house, as well as the Secretaries of
Agriculture, Community and Economic Development, Environmental Protection,
Natural Resources, Transportation and Public Welfare.
"Our goal is to make recommendations on legislative and executive decisions
that will help the Commonwealth address vital goals of reinvesting in cities and
towns and improving the quality of life for area residents, Brubaker said.
This is all very important to attracting new investment, fostering business
growth and creating jobs."
The board makes recommendations in the areas of governance, infrastructure,
economic development and land use planning. The senator said that meetings are
open to public. |
