Senator Brubaker Visits With Local School Boards

Creates partnership on educational legislative issues

LITITZ – State Senator Mike Brubaker (R-36) is meeting with school board directors throughout the 36th District to answer questions, provide information and learn more about the priorities on which school districts and state government can work cooperatively.

"Being a part of these meetings is extremely valuable to me because they open lines of reciprocal communications," Brubaker said. "Education is an area which always deserves the General Assembly's attention so we can ensure students at all levels are succeeding to their fullest potential."

Since November, the Senator has met with the school boards of the Octorara, Cocalico, Columbia, Eastern Lancaster County, Hempfield, Donegal and Manheim Central districts. He will meet with school boards of the other five school districts in the 36th Senatorial District – Ephrata, Conestoga Valley, Warwick, Twin Valley and Pequea Valley – through September.

During these meetings, the Senator said he addresses both the board and members of the public attending the meetings on issues of concern to them, such as Act 1, the costing-out study released last fall, funding and special education issues. He also poses questions to get input on various legislative matters.

"Our children deserve a high-quality education, and I truly respect the work of our schools and teachers in preparing their students for a bright future," Brubaker said. "I want to thank all of the local school boards for having me at their meetings – I believe we have created solid working relationships and it is my pleasure to represent the interests of our schools in the state Senate."
