Building a Vision for Rural Pennsylvania continues statewide tour

Listening sessions to be held in Pittsburgh, Waymart and Lebanon next week

HARRISBURG – State Senators Sean Logan (D-45), Lisa Baker (R-20) and Mike Folmer (R-48) will be hosting listening sessions in their districts next week for their colleagues on the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, Committee Chairman Senator Mike Brubaker (R-36) said today.

The sessions are part of the Building a Vision for Rural Pennsylvania series to help Committee members identify the concerns and priorities of the agriculture and rural communities for the 2007-2008 legislative session.

Next week's sessions are as follows:

  • Tuesday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, 1 N. Linden Street, Duquesne, hosted by Senator Logan
  • Wednesday, April 4, at 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army Camp Ledore on South Street in Waymart, hosted by Senator Baker
  • Thursday, April 5, at 9:30 a.m. at the Lebanon County Conservation District, 2120 Cornwall Road, Suite 5, Lebanon, hosted by Senator Folmer

"It is critical that we hear from citizens across the entire Commonwealth so that we can build a comprehensive agenda for our Committee," Brubaker said. "Our first two sessions in Philadelphia and Ephrata were very productive and we have heard a variety of perspectives.

"I want to thank my colleagues for being willing to host sessions so we can continue gathering valuable information, and I encourage anyone who would like to share their thoughts to attend future sessions," Brubaker said.

Anyone who would like to attend and/or speak at one of these sessions should contact Senator Brubaker's office at 717-787-4420 or via email at SenateAgRuralAffairs@pasen.gov. Additional information and directions are also available.
