December 17, 2010- Senator Brubaker, as Chairman of the Senate International Commerce Caucus, co-hosted the Ambassador of Kenya, Elkanah Odembo, with the World Trade Center of Central Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Office of International Business Development. The roundtable discussion was held at Linden Hall School For Girls on December 17th with local businessmen and women from the Lancaster County region. In the near future, the USA- Kenya Chamber of Commerce will offer a trade mission to Kenya for those businesses interested. More information regarding the trade mission can be found here. September 27, 2010 - The Senate International Commerce Caucus
together with the Department of Community and Economic Development co-hosted a
reception in the East Wing Rotunda for twenty trade representatives who were
visiting the state for two weeks, meeting with hundreds of businesses to discuss
possible export opportunities. The countries represented were: Arab Gulf
Region, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Germany, India,
Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa,
Taiwan, United Kingdom, and Vietnam. This reception gave the trade
representatives an opportunity to discuss their business services with
Representatives and Senators of the General Assembly. |
September 27, 2010 - Senator Brubaker along with
members of the Senate International Commerce Caucus attended the
first International Commerce Caucus hearing and listened to
testimony from Wilfred Muskens, Deputy Secretary for International
Business Development in the Department of Community and Economic
Development; Tina Weyant, Executive Director of the Central
Pennsylvania World Trade Center; and two businesses that have used
the services of both, Unilife and Casual Living Products. |

June 7, 2010 - During their time in the states, the Harrisburg Regional Chamber worked with the International Commerce Caucus and the Department of Community and Economic Development to schedule a reception for 8 investment representatives to meet with Pennsylvania legislators and businessmen to discuss their roles in their respective countries. Pictured here are Senator Bob Mensch, DCED Acting Secretary Austin Burke, Senator Brubaker and DCED Deputy Secretary for International Development Wilfred Muskens with the 8 investment representatives. The countries represented by the investment representatives are: Japan, Korea, Germany, Canada, Australia, Spain and the Netherlands. |
April 21, 2010 - Senator Brubaker took time out to meet with a Swiss Choir
from the Baeretswil Church of Switzerland. They are meeting with Amish and
Mennonite families in the USA and Canada from April 16th through April 30th.

April 17, 2010 - Steven
Zou and Jim Curtis, both representing the Pennsylvania Department of
Community and Economic Development in China, met with Lancaster
County businessmen on Saturday, April 17th to discuss
business opportunities in China. |
April 12, 2010 - Senator Brubaker met with German
exchange students during their trip to the Pennsylvania Capitol on
April 12th. The exchange students spent the school year in a program
through Hempfield High School. |

April 12, 2010 - Through the Pennsylvania Tourism Bureau a group of 12 Chinese tourism agents and writers visited Pennsylvania during the week of April 12th, visiting many tourist sites in order to promote Pennsylvania tourism abroad. |
March 23, 2010 - Senator Brubaker and staff met with members from the Department of Community of Economic Development who were hosting 13 of their 24 international trade representatives representing the following countries: Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Israel, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Greece, the Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Spain, Vietnam, United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Scandinavia, Korea, India, and Japan. |
