Capitol Hunger Garden

2011 Hunger Garden Groundbreaking (Fox43)
Senator Brubaker

Thank you for all those that came out on Friday, May 7th for the inaugural planting of the Capitol Hunger Garden. On that day, we had a total of 20 volunteers working to plant the fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs, all of which will be donated to our local food banks for those who are hungry. Thanks to those who came out to help that day and we look forward to seeing you all back in the future!

Sincerely,

Senator Mike Brubaker and Representative John Myers

Even though Pennsylvania is a world leader in food production and processing, far too many state residents struggle every day with hunger and food insecurity. In fact, there is no district in our Commonwealth where hunger does not exist.

As elected officials in Pennsylvania it is both our moral obligation and fiscal imperative to decrease the high human and economic toll of hunger in the Commonwealth in a cooperative bi-partisan way.

That's why we formed the Legislative Caucus on Hunger. Our goal is to bring together government at the state, federal and local levels and work together with community partners to effectively address hunger and the underlying causes contributing to it. This website will include information on what the caucus is doing to fight hunger in Pennsylvania as well as information on food banks and other places where people can go to receive help or to make a donation. Hunger hurts Pennsylvania – but working together, we can help those in need.
