Hunger Gardens Across PA

Victory Garden of the Lehigh Valley

The Victory Garden in the Lehigh Valley brings people together during the planting, cultivating, and harvest times to provide food for those suffering with hunger. The focal point is to address real needs of people and have the opportunity to be the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus of Nazareth, while providing those in need an opportunity to be part of the process, like Ruth in the Old Testament. People, who are concerned about the poor, will have the opportunity to assist in future planting, maintaining and harvesting. Poor families will be able to "glean" the field that which has been set aside to meet their food needs. Local groups of our leaders meeting in the Valley desire to come together and labor in this project to help the least of these in our Lehigh Valley.

Chester County Food Bank- Raised Garden Bed Program

Program informationPDF Document

Last summer the Chester County Food Bank built a total of 184 raised bed gardens at over 30 sites in Chester County. By this summer’s end they will have built close to 300 gardens at over 50 sites. The food that is grown at the site- usually at a school, college, county park, business, food cupboard or religious organization is grown by volunteers and then is sent directly to partnering food cupboards and meal sites. The Food Bank, through this program and our Gleaning Program, grew, collected, and distributed over 135,000 lbs of produce. For more information on their Raised Garden Bed Program please visit their website at: www.chestercountyfoodbank.org.
